Tolls in Germany – information on tolls for vehicles weighing 7.5 tonnes and over

German motorways are free of charge for vehicles up to 3.5 tonnes, with tolls only payable for passing through the Herren and Warnow tunnels in the north of the country. Information on the development of tolls for passenger cars is available on de.wikipedia.org.

On German motorways, tolls are only payable for vehicles with a gross vehicle weight of 7.5 tonnes or more. Tolls can be paid via the Toll Collect on-board unit or by subscription for the selected route via a mobile app or the toll-collect.de website.

AUTOMATIC PAYMENT

Toll Collect on-board unit – on-board unit (GPS + GSM) with Toll Collect account.
Toll2GO system – system for Toll Collect on-board unit compatible with the Austrian ASFINAG toll system.

MANUAL (ADVANCE) PAYMENT

Terminal – payment via terminal in car parks.
Mobile app – payment via the Toll Collect mobile app downloadable from Google Play or App Store.
Internet – pay online via toll-collect.de.


The toll exemption on motorways applies to electric vehicles, buses, circus and entertainment vehicles, fire-fighting vehicles, police and public defence vehicles and some other vehicles. An up-to-date description of the rules can be found at toll-collect.de.
